Musha Gaeshi is the rarest rice shochu, 100% handmade by Jufuku Distillery, the smallest in Kumamoto and possibly in Kyushu. The family has been making rice shochu in Hitoyoshi City since 1890. Ryota Yoshimatsu is the current fifth-generation master brewer-distiller after taking over from his mother, Kinuko Jufuku.

Made with white koji and locally grown Japanese rice, Musha Gaeshi is fermented slowly at low temperatures before distillation in an atmospheric pot still. The 44% alcohol spirit is rested in enamel tanks before being diluted with very soft spring water from beneath the Kuma River, one of the most pristine rivers in Japan. Musha Gaeshi undergoes a very light filtration before bottling. 

This gentle fermentation process, atmospheric pot distillation, soft spring water, and light filtration combine to create a lush, beautifully textured spirit that shines in nearly any service style.
